Dan Powell is a sound artist and improviser based in Brighton. Recent works include Inside Journeys, a piece developed during a residency at the Rose Hill, Brighton in collaboration with Andrew Greaves. They continued their collaboration and in 2026 released an album as Wasps.

He has released two albums on Crónica which use field recordings and electronic improvisation to investigate places that are important to him.

He is a member of Nil with Chris Parfitt. They combine acoustic free improvisation with elements of performance art. Nil explore the boundaries between audience and performer, as well as the not very loud and the very quiet.

Dan is a member of the Spirit of Gravity collective.

Previously he was active in electro-acoustic improvisation in London and Brighton, especially with Gus Garside in The Static Memories and Muster with James O’Sullivan
